YOUNG people have been urged to stick with the lockdown restrictions for the sake of everyone.

The plea comes after reports of beach parties over the weekend, with large groups of teenagers and no social distancing.

The West Beach in Lossiemouth on Sunday night seemed a particular hotspot.

The town's community council said it was "disappointed" to receive complaints from members of the public.

"Individuals described as being very drunk, loud and some people being sick in the sand.

"Obviously mixed groups of people and no social distancing, with lots rubbish and glass bottles scattered around them.

"We know these last 10 weeks has been hard on young folk but this is putting the people you live with at risk.

"We all want an end to lockdown but it needs us all to be patient and sensible for a wee while longer."

The police have been informed about the reports.

The community council says the advice remains the same until the coronavirus is under control and urged people to follow the Scottish Government advice.

"Don't let Lossie down," was the message to those involved.
