A planning application has been submitted to turn a building near Leanchoil Hospital into a day centre for military veterans.

Erskine, the military charity, aims to inhabit the nurses' living quarters.

Architectural drawings showing the proposed internal changes have also been submitted to Moray Council's planning committee, which next sits after the summer recess.

These drawings can be viewed HERE.

Both have lain empty since 2018 when NHS Grampian closed the hospital.

The Leanchoil Trust has plans to raise £4million to turn the site into a community facility promoting physical and mental health.

A £340,000 bid for the main hospital building was approved in principal by NHS Grampian earlier this month.

However a full transfer of ownership could take up to a year to finalise.

Talks have also taken place between the trust and Eskine about the latter using part of the main B-listed building, either instead of, or in addition to the nursing quarters.
