Linkwood Nursery in Elgin and Pilmuir Nursery in Forres were handed the ratings following inspections by the Care Inspectorate on March 15 and May 27 respectively.

Both visits were carried out by two inspectors and included speaking with children, parents, carers, staff and management.

Linkwood was graded 5 (Very Good) on a six-point scale across four themes: quality of care and support, quality of environment, quality of staffing and quality of management and leadership.

Pilmuir also received grade 5 (Very Good) for the two themes inspected: quality of care and support and quality of management and leadership.

Staff at both nurseries also received praise for the nurturing relationships formed with children.

Elaine Gordon, Linkwood Nursery Manager, said: "“I’m extremely proud of the team at Linkwood Nursery following the visit from the Care Inspectorate earlier in the year. We are pleased that our vision of creating a warm, calm and welcoming ethos was acknowledged within our inspection report and look forward to continuing to support all of our children to develop skills for learning, life and work.

“We’re very happy that we now have the opportunity to invite our families into our setting again which will give us the opportunity to work more closely with our nursery community. We work hard to ensure that we’re supporting positive outcomes for all of our children and are delighted with the feedback received.”

Bev Ashworth, Pilmuir Nursery Manager, added: “Pilmuir Nursery offers a caring and nurturing environment that helps the children feel safe and confident. I’d like to thank my colleagues for their continued hard work and dedication, which has been highlighted within the report.

“We’re extremely lucky to have fantastic outdoor facilities at Pilmuir and I’m delighted that the feedback from parents shows that their child’s physical, mental and emotional wellbeing is fully supported through this regular access to fresh air.”

Parental feedback within both reports showed satisfaction with communication from both nurseries while also feeling involved in their child's care and learning.

They were also praised for the partnership approach they have with families, nursery management, staff and parents/carers.
