Hardy swimmers take the plunge for Burghead Boxing Day Swim 2024
Nearly 40 hardy swimmers took the plunge for yet another Burghead Boxing Day Swim.
Unusually mild conditions saw 39 swimmers jump into Burghead Harbour while a crowd of around 1000 cheered them on.
Money raised from this year’s event will go towards the Burghead Clavie, Burghead Parent Partnership and the Broch Selkies.
Organiser Jamie Campbell said: “It went really well and I think the weather helped.
“About 1000 or so folk turned out to support the swimmers.
“We had 39 swimmers this year so a really good turnout and a lot of them were in fancy dress which cheers everyone up as well.
“I think that’s the mildest since I’ve been organising it anyway.
“It was below freezing last year which doesn’t make much difference for the swimmers but it does for everyone cheering them on.”
