WITH just six weeks to go, it is approaching time to think about ... Christmas!
The Forres Christmas Lights Committee has already put up the town's lights ahead of the switch-on ceremony and fancy dress parade on Saturday, November 30.
Committee member Margaret Atherton is looking forward to the early festivities.
She said: "On a really wet and miserable morning, a large number of volunteers aged from mid-teens to early 70’s turned-out, despite the rain, to put up approximately 80 Christmas lights. The next step will be putting-up and decorating the tree on Sunday, November 24.
"We hope to have a large turnout of children in fancy-dress on the following Saturday - the winner will switch-on the Forres Christmas lights."
In the town hall during the afternoon, there will be stalls selling crafts, jewellery, knitwear, bakery, confectionery, books, art, refreshments and more, with additional live entertainment from local schools.
At 4.30pm, Santa and the Forres and District Youth Pipe Band will lead the participants of the fancy-dress competition along to the Christmas tree at the Tolbooth for the main event.
"It's a community event which involves families, young and old to mark the start of the Christmas season" added Ms Atherton. "Come along and enjoy the afternoon."
