One death recorded as highest ever number of weekly coronavirus cases confirmed in Moray

ONE coronavirus-related death has been confirmed in Moray in the last week, while the area recorded more than 500 new cases of the virus.

The person who died tested positive for Covid-19 before their death. Their death takes Moray's toll since the outbreak began to 54.

Of the 54 people to have died in Moray, 42 tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days, while 12 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

Meanwhile, 545 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray within the last week, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 6240.

This is the highest number of cases confirmed in one week in the area, well up on the 383 confirmed last week.

In the last week, 948 negative tests for Covid-19 have been recorded in Moray. This is up on 725 negative tests last week.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 52,544 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began.

Moray neighbourhood update

All of Moray's 24 'neighbourhood areas' confirmed at least three cases of coronavirus between November 8 and November 14.

Elgin was once again the worst-hit town in Moray, with a total of 126 cases.

A total of 46 cases were confirmed in Forres, while 45 were confirmed in Keith and Fife Keith and 39 in Lossiemouth.

Buckie is bucking the trend of increasing cases, with 19 confirmed in the town this week – down on 31 last week.

The number of people aged 12 plus in Moray to have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine is 69,811. This accounts for 83 per cent of the eligible population.

The number to have received one dose is 76,891 – or 91.4 per cent of those eligible.

In total, 24,442 people aged 12 plus have received a booster/third jab. That's 25.5 per cent of the eligible population.
