One death and 317 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray within last week

THE death of a Moray resident due to Covid-19 has been confirmed within the last week, taking the area's death toll since the outbreak began to 47.

Of these 47 deaths, 36 people tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days, while 11 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

Meanwhile, 317 cases of the virus have been confirmed in Moray within the last seven days, taking the total to 4739 since last March.

This is more or less in line with the total of 310 cases confirmed last week, and 325 the week prior.

In the same time, 757 people have tested negative for the virus across the area.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 43,728 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began.

Moray neighbourhood update

All but two of Moray's 24 'neighbourhood areas' confirmed at least three cases of Covid-19 between October 11 and October 17.

The two exceptions were Rural Keith and Strathisla and Forres Central East and seaward.

Buckie is now the worst-hit town with 74 cases confirmed, while there have been 54 confirmed in Elgin.

Lossiemouth has confirmed 15, Forres 11 and Keith and Fife Keith eight.

The other cases are as follows:

  • Burghead, Roseisle and Laich: 27
  • Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty, Drybridge and Berryhillock: 27
  • Mosstodloch, Portgordon and seaward: 24
  • South Speyside and the Cabrach: 19
  • Rafford, Dallas, Dyke to Dava: 10
  • Lhanbryde, Urquhart, Pitgavney and seaward: nine
  • Fochabers, Aultmore, Clochan and Ordiquish: seven
  • Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley: seven
  • Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry: six
  • North Speyside: five

The number of people aged 16 plus in Moray to have received both doses of a Covid-19 vaccine is 69,338. This accounts for 87 per cent of the area's adult population.

The number to have received one dose is 73,967 – or 92.8 per cent of all those aged 16 plus in Moray.
