504 new coronavirus cases are confirmed in Moray in the last week but no new deaths

MORE than 500 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Moray within the last week, but no new deaths have been reported.

A total of 504 new cases takes the number of positive tests in Moray since the outbreak started in March 2020 to 8410.

The number of cases is up slightly on the 436 confirmed in last Wednesday's update. Official figures do not state how many cases in the area involve the Omicron variant.

Meanwhile, a total of 738 negative tests have been confirmed in the last week. This is slightly down on the 849 negative tests last week.

The Covid-19 death toll remains at 60. Of the 60 to have died due to coronavirus, 47 tested positive for virus and passed away within 28 days, while 13 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 63,561 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began.

Moray neighbourhood update

All of Moray's 24 'neighbourhood areas' confirmed at least three cases of coronavirus between December 13 and December 19.

Elgin was again the worst-hit town in Moray with a total of 112 cases – up on the 82 recorded previously.

Meanwhile, there were 77 cases in Forres – more than double the 38 confirmed last week.

Buckie confirmed 60 cases, with 48 in Lossiemouth and 16 in Keith and Fife Keith.

The other cases are as follows:

  • Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry: 39
  • Burghead, Roseisle and Laich: 35
  • Rafford, Dallas, Dyke to Dava: 30
  • Mosstodloch, Portgordon and seaward: 24
  • Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley: 22
  • Fochabers, Aultmore, Clochan and Ordiquish: 20
  • Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty, Drybridge and Berryhillock: 19
  • Lhanbryde, Urquhart, Pitgavney and seaward: 17
  • North Speyside: 12
  • South Speyside and the Cabrach: Nine
  • Rural Keith and Strathisla: Eight

The number of people aged 12 plus in Moray to have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine is 70,770. This accounts for 84.1 per cent of the eligible population.

The number to have received one dose is 77,378 – or 92 per cent of those eligible.

In total, 50,940 people aged 12 plus have received a booster/third jab.

More than 7000 people received the booster this week, with 60.6 per cent of the eligible population now triple jabbed.
