Nine cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray within the last week

NINE new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray within the last week, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 1790.

This continues the positive trend in Moray, with cases down on the 12 confirmed in last week's update, and the 36 confirmed the week prior.

With no new deaths recorded, the number of people to have died due to Covid-19 in Moray remains 40.

Of those 40, 30 have tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days, while 10 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

A total 473 negative Covid-19 tests have been confirmed since May 25, in line with last week's testing numbers.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 15,497 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began.

That's an increase of 75 on the 15,422 reported last week.

For the first time this year, no neighbourhood areas in Moray confirmed more than three cases of coronavirus between May 24 and May 30.

Scotland-wide update

Overnight, 677 cases of Covid-19 and one death was recorded throughout Scotland.

In the last week, 33,685 people were newly-tested for Covid-19 with 4135 testing positive for the first time. This is compared to the 2711 who tested positive last week from 33,505 tests.

Since the outbreak began, 2,050,580 people in Scotland have been tested at least once, with 237,066 positive and 1,813,514 negative.

During the week ending May 30, eight deaths were registered where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Scotland's death toll is 10,122. A total of 7670 people have died after testing positive for Covid-19.

A total of 10 people are in intensive care in relation to Covid-19, with 114 patients in hospital.

In total, 15,816 patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5, 2020.
