ELGIN High Street's former Burton store is to welcome a new tenant – ladies' fashion retailer Knightsbridge House Boutique.

It is believed to be the second only UK branch for the north Wales based fashion house, which opened its first store in Llandudno last November.

The company has since focused on building its online presence before looking to branch out to other areas.

Gemma Cruickshank, Elgin BID manager, said today: "Elgin BID are very excited to be welcoming Knightsbridge House Boutique, which is one of the first new businesses to open since the pandemic, with more to follow.

"This new ladies' boutique clothing store will be a welcome addition to the High Street, creating new jobs and new shopping experience.

"When they do open we encourage people to support them in their new venture in Elgin, alongside continuing to support our existing businesses."

Burton closed permanently with, it is understood, the loss of six jobs in mid-February.

The Arcadia group, which owned Burton, went into administration last November.

The high-street cheer comes a day after confirmation that Inverness Travel has taken over Moray-based Beaver Travel, and plans to maintain a presence in both Elgin and Forres.
