Run by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), the four-week Supportive Steps course will be looking at helping people build confidence, overcome barriers, build a positive 'can do mindset' and gradually prepare them for entry into labour market.

In the first week of the course will include and introduction, confidence building and self-awareness, while week two will cover motivation, personal presentation, communication skills, shared barrier and transferable skills.

The spotlight will move on to look at digital skills for homeworking and job searching in week three.

Building resilience, dealing with rejection, maintaining a positive attitude, awareness of the employer's perspective and how they can fulfil their full potential rounds things off in the final week.

The course commences on Wednesday, March 2.

This is available to DWP customers and if a customer is interested in applying, they should speak to their work coach.
