Motorcyclist (19) in hospital with “serious” injuries after Moray crash

A TEENAGE motorcyclist is in hospital with “serious” injuries after a two-vehicle crash in Moray.

A 19-year-old, who was riding a Yamaha FZ6 Fazer motorbike, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in the aftermath of the incident.

His bike was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Crossland car on the outskirts of Burghead - close to Forest Park football ground - at 9.55pm on Tuesday, July 9.

Emergency services attended and the teenager was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin for treatment. He was later transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with injuries that are described as “serious”.

The occupants of the car were not injured. The road was closed for around five hours to allow for investigations to be carried out. It reopened around 3.30am today.

Road Policing officers are now appealing for information on the incident.

Constable Callum Hogg of the Elgin Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing into this incident and I am appealing for anyone who has any information which could assist to contact us.

“In particular, we would be keen to speak to anyone who saw the vehicles before the crash or who were in the area at the time and who may have dash cam which could assist to get in touch.”

Earlier on Tuesday, a motorcylist died in an incident that involved a tractor between Tomintoul and Glenlivet in Moray.
