MORAY'S newly-elected MSP Richard Lochhead is out of voluntary isolation and is at today's regional list count at Moray Sports Centre.
Mr Lochhead and his family entered isolation yesterday as they awaited the result of his son's Covid-19 test – which has now returned negative.
The SNP candidate missed yesterday's constituency count, which saw him re-elected, in a move he said was "safety first".
But today he joined the rest of his campaign team for the remainder of the count.
He said: "After my son received the all clear with his Covid-19 test result, I was delighted to join my team at the next stage of the count for the list votes.
"I pay tribute to our NHS for the quick turnaround which will hopefully help encourage anyone with even mild symptoms to request a PCR test – which is now part of the latest advice in Moray.
"I was pleased to be able to thank the Returning Officer and all her staff at the count for their hard work in what have been very unusual circumstances.
"I also want to thank the thousands of constituents who have contacted me since our spectacular result was announced.
"Now we are awaiting the outcome of national picture and hopefully confirmation of the election of a fourth consecutive SNP Government."
A result from Moray's regional list count is expected this afternoon.
The Highlands and Islands list will be decided when all eight areas compromising the region have returned their result.
Seven 'list MSPs' are elected for each region – with Moray's defeated Conservative candidate Tim Eagle yesterday saying he hoped three or four Tories would be elected as list MSPs.
