The event in his memory will take place at The Mansefield Hotel in Elgin on Monday, June 9, from 1pm onwards.

At approximately 1.45pm Lee will be taken to the crematorium. However the guests will remain at the hotel where the celebration will continue.

A statement from his family said: “It will come as no surprise that we are not having a conventional funeral for Lee.

“We are going to celebrate his incredible life through his favourite activity – telling stories. The whole celebration will take place at The Mansefield Hotel, Elgin where we have held many black belt and family events.

“There are some rooms still available and the bar will be open until late.

“If Lee inspired, mentored or loved you – you are welcome to attend.”

Lee, a father-of-six, had black belts in karate, jiu jitsu and kickboxing.

A former military man and an expert in close protection, he operated in various international hotspots such as Libya and Somaliland, and served undercover in Northern Ireland.

He became widely known for his work as a bodyguard for Princess Diana and her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, particularly during their holiday in St. Tropez in the summer of 1997, shortly before her death.

He was nicknamed "Rambo" by her.

Beyond his time with the Royal Family, he also worked as a bodyguard for numerous Hollywood stars, including Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman and Sylvester Stallone.

His book titled "The Bodyguard" (also published as "Protecting Diana: A Bodyguard's Story") recounted his career and experiences.

Sansum Martial Arts has several locations around the UK, including Moray Sports Centre on Linkwood Road, Elgin.

Writing on social media, his widow Kate said: “Since meeting in 1998, Lee has been my soulmate, hero and most amazing man in my world.

“So I'm devastated to share that he is no longer with us.

"His huge presence will be missed around the world as much as it is in our household although his capacity for love, and the life skills he has shared have left a legacy that will never be lost. He's forever loved and will always be with us.”
