Forres artist to feature in Epilepsy Action’s National Doodle Day auction

A woman who switched from her office administration job to pursue her dream of being a full-time artist now has one of her drawings up for auction.

Forres-based Sasha McMahon, was asked to input her work as part of Epilepsy Action’s National Doodle Day fundraising campaign.

Last year, more than 600 professional and hobby artists, as well as celebrities, donated their artwork to the charity initiative, and the number is even higher this year, as the campaign celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Sasha, was asked to draw a piece for the auction earlier this year.

Choosing a smiley dog photo to recreate in pencil, the 33-year-old said: “I’m really happy to have donated a wee sketch to the fundraiser.

“This piece is really different to my detailed animal portraits using pastel, which are usually done by commission only, but I wanted to get into the spirit of ‘doodling’ with a quick pencil drawing.

“It’s a fantastic initiative and whether my drawing raises £1 or £100 I’m thrilled to have contributed!”

The auction includes pieces from Game of Thrones and Call the Midwife actors, Olympic athletes, a Beano Comic illustrator, a MOBO winning singer, and a Drag Race finalist.

Bidding ends on Saturday, September 28, on eBay here.
