The Master of the Worshipful Company of Distillers has visited Benromach Distillery in Forres during a national tour to mark a special anniversary.

It's exactly 350 years since the company was granted livery status by King Charles II of England in 1672.

This put it in charge of training, wage controls and labour conditions for the distilling industry.

Chris Porter, who heads up the organisation now, is touring distilleries across the country to raise awareness of its modern-day work.

Another reason for the Benromach visit was to collect items for the Distillers One of One auction, a regular event to which Gordon & MacPhail, the distillery's owners, frequently donate.

The last auction raised over £2.5 million which was distributed between a selection of charities that help young people across Scotland.

Gordon & MacPhail also welcomed Lianne Williams from Enable Scotland, a charity that helps find rewarding careers for young people who have barriers to employment.

Ewen Mackintosh, Gordon & MacPhail's managing director, said: "We were honoured to host Chris and Lianne.

"We were pleased to share insights into Gordon & MacPhail’s approach to diversity and inclusion, recruitment and training of young people, as well as our work to support local charities and contribute to our community."

For his part, Chris said: "We appreciate Gordon & MacPhail’s contribution, not just for the most generous donations to the Distillers One of One Auction, but also their consistent support to the work of the Scottish committee and annual dinner in September.

"It’s why I felt it so important to come here as Master. Not only to say a huge-thank you to them, but to also recognise the impact their support, along with our many other generous donors is having on charities."
