New photographs have offered a look inside whisky firm Gordon and MacPhail’s new shop - metres from another another world-famous family business.
Gordon and MacPhail’s new store opened last week, beside the home of textile firm Johnston’s of Elgin.
According to the company, their new store features some of the “rarest whiskies in the world”.
The retail store and tasting rooms opened to customers on Saturday, March 1, offering a “new, modern and interactive whisky experience”.
Local contractors were used as part of the project, including Forteath and Sinclair, Campbell McHardy, Hendersons Decorators, and architects LDN, with support from POD design.
As well as its Gordon and MacPhail whiskies, award-winning Benromach Single Malts and Red Door Gin, the store will stock the company’s CRN57° Blended Malt whisky range.
The new store also offers a range of other Scotch Whiskies, Scottish gins, vodkas and rums as well as top quality still, sparkling and fortified wines.
Phillip White, chief executive of Gordon and MacPhail, said: “This is a new offering that we are exceptionally proud of.
“Our investment here reflects our long-term commitment to Elgin – the place of our company’s beginnings over a century ago.
“The recent closure of St Giles shopping centre was unexpected but presented an opportunity to evaluate our options as to how best we can serve our customers and community.
“The Courtyard at Johnstons of Elgin at Newmill offers visitors a premium retail experience with plenty of space and a lovely café just next door, making it the ideal space for our temporary Whisky Experience and retail offering while our South Street premises continue to undergo renovation.”
Chris Gaffney, CEO of Johnstons of Elgin, said: “Johnstons are delighted to welcome Gordon and MacPhail to Newmill.
“It’s a great match of two family companies that have a worldwide customer base and iconic products made in Moray.
“I’m sure it will give guests from near and far even more of a reason to visit us.”
