Learn to dance Scottish country-style

By Alistair Whitfield

Beginner classes for Scottish Country Dancing are starting on Monday in Forres Town Hall.

Thanks to the Forres branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, which has been flourishing for almost 70 years, newcomers are given an opportunity to learn the basic steps and formations.

Mark Nash from the RSCDS said: "It's a great way to keep mind and body in good shape, as

well as to keep in touch with Scots’ heritage.

"We'd like people to come and learn and enjoy jigs, Strathspeys and reels under expert tuition. Scottish dancing is all about fun, fitness."

The weekly classes in Forres start at 7.15 pm, with the main class commencing at 8pm.

The society also meets at the Nairn Community and Arts Centre on Thursdays, with the first class

on September 19, commencing at 7pm.
