Labour activist and former Moray College lecturer Nick Taylor dies aged 62

DEDICATED Labour Party activist and Moray College lecturer Nick Taylor has died at the age of 62.
Mr Taylor was a lifelong Labour supporter and activist, standing for election for the party in Elgin North twice in 2017.
He will also be remembered by many students at Moray College UHI, where he was a social science lecturer for more than 22 years until the summer of 2017.
Dr Stuart MacLennan, secretary of Moray Labour, said: “It is with great sadness that I must announce the death of our dear friend and comrade Nick Taylor.
"Nick was a stalwart supporter of our party and our movement his whole life. Nick stood for election in Elgin North twice in two months in 2017 and, despite not keeping the best health in recent years, he remained one of our most committed activists.
“Nick's death is a great loss not just to our party, but also to our community. In addition to his contribution to the Labour Party, Nick was a dedicated and popular educator in Moray for three decades, as well as a community councillor.
“Many local members and Moray residents will remember Nick for his dedication. Anyone who met Nick will remember his sharp intellect and caustic wit.
"I will remember Nick for all of these things, as well as his kindness, and his friendship.”
Labour councillor John Divers (Elgin City South) added: "Nick has been a valued party member.
"He always had a sound knowledge of what was going on in politics and was a guy to look to for advice. He will be missed."
A Moray College UHI spokesperson said: "We are saddened to hear of the passing of Nick Taylor.
"During his time with us he supported many students, staff members and the college through his roles and his active membership of EIS/FELA and the College Board of Management.
"Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time."
