Forres Enterprise Park-based orbital launch services company is launching its annual internship programme





A major employer in Forres is recruiting nine trainees as part its annual internship programme.

The Enterprise Park-based, Orbex orbital launch services company interns will support a team of experts working towards the company’s Prime rocket’s inaugural launch later this year.

Avionics engineering intern, Toby Thomson, structures engineering intern, Reshma Raji, assembly integration and test intern, Rowan Spencer, assembly integration test intern, Jabez Lewis, avionics assembly integration test intern, Bhoomika Suchetha and software engineering intern, Noah English-Polch will continue to work with Orbex until the end of the summer.

Orbex CEO, Phillip Chambers, is looking forward to launching the careers of more prospective employees.

The internship offers an opportunity for STEM and law students to gain hands-on experience in Scotland’s space sector.

Over 1650 have registered interest in the programme over the last year.

Rowan Spencer from the University of Glasgow joined the 2024/25 internship programme as an assembly, integration and test intern.

He said: “My first experience of the space sector was being part of the University of Glasgow’s student-led rocket project, GU Rocketry. “I was on the lookout for opportunities to take my passion to the next level and into a professional career.

"I jumped at the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a company that is at the forefront of Scotland’s space sector.

“Being able to work with such a skilled and dynamic team has been an incredible experience, and it’s something I’ll carry with me throughout my career.”

The paid 10-month programme is welcoming applications from students with space and engineering backgrounds.

The available roles in the 2025/26 programme are: assembly, integration and test (AIT) internship; assembly, integration and test (AIT) avionics internship; software internship; legal internship; avionics internship; ground segment software internship; structures manufacturing engineer internship; structures mechanical engineer internship.
