A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a house fire and car theft in New Elgin.

The house fire and the theft of a silver Ford Fiesta occurred at a property on Sandy Road at around 12.45pm on November 13 last year.

A 39-year-old man, who has not been named, has now been charged in connection with the incident. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no-one was injured, but two cats were reportedly treated for smoke inhalation at the time using oxygen masks designed for animals.
