A hip hop dance troupe will be giving two open air free performances in Moray next week.

Born to Protest is being staged in The Square in Fochabers at 1pm on Wednesday, October 20, and at the same time on Thursday, October 21, upon Elgin's Plainstones.

Created by Joseph Toonga and Just Us Dance Theatre, his seven-strong company, the work aims to dismantle presumptions about black people.

Frequently drawing on real life stories, it will feature hip hop beats as well as a voice over.

Dance North, the Findhorn-based organisation, is helping to promote the performances.

On a related theme, a group of young dancers from Moray will be re-staging their performance of Savage both tomorrow and on Saturday in the dunes at Findhorn.

The work, which was first performed in July, is inspired by the Lord of Flies, a dark tale of what happens after a group of schoolboys are marooned on a desert island.

Putting a fresh spin on things the Dance North Youth Company production features an all-female cast.

Performances are being held at both 1pm and 4pm on Friday, and again on Saturday
