THE UK Minister for Employment visited Forres Job Centre this week to discuss Universal Credit and other issues.

Mims Davies, who was appointed to the role in July, was accompanied by Moray's MP Douglas Ross.

Following the visit, Mr Ross said: "It was very evident that the staff at the job centre work hard for local people to get them back into employment as quickly as possible.

"It was encouraging to hear the Minister take on board their suggestions on how things can be improved.

"There's good practice delivered from the Job Centre Plus offices at Tytler Street which could be rolled out across the country.

"It was also encouraging to hear that more and more Moray employers are, like me, now signed up to the Disability Confident scheme.

"This is a national project for businesses of all sizes to employ people with disabilities and it brings great benefits to both the employer and the employee.”

Mrs Davies said: "I was really pleased to see our important Disability Confident scheme is being backed by more and more local employers and helping people into work.

"Thanks are due to the Forres team for a really valuable visit and insight which can help shape future policies."
