ACCLAIMED choral singers are performing in Forres this month.

University of Glasgow Chapel Choir (UGCC) is at St Leonard’s Church at 7pm on Wednesday, June 29 –the talented performers are currently completing a mini-tour of Scotland.

Session clerk Roy Anderson confirmed the concert will begin at 7pm with doors opening from 6.30pm – admittance will cost £5.

He said: “As part of its first tour since the coronavirus lockdowns, the UGCC will present sacred and secular music from Scotland and further afield.”

The UGCC is regularly invited to record the daily service and broadcast the Sunday Worship live on BBC Radio 4. The group also tours regularly and has visited Europe and the United States.

“It’s a great honour for St Leonard’s to be hosting this concert,” said Roy.

“The other venues are St Magnus Cathedral in Kirkwall and St Paul’s Cathedral in Dundee.

“Arrive early to be sure of a good seat!”

St Leonard’s is offering lunchtime musical recitals on Tuesdays from 11.45am this summer from June 28 up to and including August 2.

It is hoped attendees will also enjoy a soup and sandwich lunch in the church hall from midday to 1.30pm for just £4.
