Mather family from Forres wins Home Hardware gardening competition

CUSTOMERS at a local store have won a UK-wide shop chain competition.

Forres mum, Louise Mather, sent a picture of her garden which she had made-over during lockdown to Wright’s Home Hardware's Facebook page to enter which was chosen by staff as a winner.

Louise was thrilled to here she had won a Hozelock sprayer/sprinkler and a Flymo toy mini mower.

She said: "We were so pleased to win the prize, it has come in very handy. Dad has used it loads already, washing his car and our caravan. We have also had it out watering the new grass we put down last week."

Louise's son Finlay added: " My sister Eva and her friends have been having great fun with the toy lawnmower out in the garden."

Home Hardware shops including the one at 107-111 High street are independently owned but members of buying and marketing group, Home Hardware Scotland.

The firm buys products in bulk to help its retailers compete with larger brands.

Home Hardware are trying to use social media to increase footfall.

A spokesperson said: "In Forres during lockdown we had great local support resulting in bumper sales of garden, paint and DIY products. Our main issue was having enough product to meet the demand!

"We are now seeing a return to normal sale of other everday household items."

She added: "There has been a big drive in Forres to have people to return to the town centre for their shopping with the 'Love Local' campaign. So far this has been well received and supported."
