A DEVOTED mum has organised a 21 in 21 prize package giveaway in March in aid of Down's Syndrome Scotland (DSS).

Clare Fraser, from New Elgin, launched the fundraiser today (March 1) which will run until World Down Syndrome Day on March 21.

More than 21 local companies have come together to create a series of fabulous package giveaways.

Clare's youngest daughter Willow, who will be three in June, has Down's Syndrome.

"I’m honestly blown away by the kindness of our local companies, they’ve been so supportive and have all been put under Willow's magic spell," said Clare.

"She oozes love and we all just love her so much. Our lives are, without a doubt, much richer for having her in them."

Clare and husband Donald have two other daughters, Lottie (9) and Ivy (7) who dote on their younger sister.

DSS is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and Clare is hoping to raise more than £600.

Each day she will post a prize package on her Facebook page and to be in with a chance of winning, people just have to make a minimum donation of £5 to DSS through the link on each post.

The most common type of Down’s syndrome, which occurs in about 94 per cent of people, is Trisomy 21, so called as all the cells in the person’s body have a full extra copy of chromosome 21, so there are three copies of chromosome 21 in every cell.

Clare said while her main aim is to raise money for the good work of DSS, she also wants to raise awareness and a greater understanding of Down's Syndrome by getting people talking about the condition.
