EVENT organisers hope the local community turns Forres into a 'Window Wanderland' next month.

The community project that started in Bristol in 2015 - and has since done 47 versions throughout the UK - is inviting locals to be part of an art trail and see their neighbourhoods in a new light over Valentine’s weekend, when households, families, businesses and schools create window-based art.

Findhorn Bay Arts (FBA) is putting the Forres event together and director Kresanna Aigner hopes as many people as possible help transform the town into a magical outdoor gallery.

She said: "In these challenging times, we wanted to bring some light to the dark winter nights and what better way to do this than through an arts project that everyone can do, safely from their own home, using material and card that are lying around.

"It’s a wonderful and fun activity for families, and individuals to do over the next few weeks.

"Over Valentine’s weekend, all participants will turn their lights on to illuminate their artworks for local people to enjoy while exploring our neighbourhood’s outdoor galleries safely. We can’t wait to see all this creativity explode on to our streets."

Taking part is free and all age groups are encouraged to take part. Participants can use anything from the windows of flats, houses, businesses and schools to nurseries, cars, camper vans and shops.

However, the art does not have to be on windows - front doors, house faces and gardens can be canvases too.

Kresanna added: "You don’t need to be artistic to take part. Your work can be simple or spectacular - anything goes as long as it’s family-friendly.

"You might consider what love means to you: whether it’s fun family moments; friendship; being part of your local community in a meaningful way; supporting someone in need; your beloved pets; what you love about living in your town; or it could be caring for the environment; a plant or garden; the Moray coast; or nature around you."

Findhorn Bay Arts will also create an online guide with tips on making window displays towards the end of January.

The event itself will run on February 12, 13 and 14.
