VACCINES in Forres will be given at the Town Hall starting from Monday, instead of at Mosset Park.

It was only this week that Mosset Park, the home of Forres Mechanics, became a five-day-a-week vaccine hub.

It was announced last week that the ground would be used Monday to Friday, from 10am to 6pm, starting yesterday. Prior to that, it had been used on Mondays since February 1.

However, NHS Grampian has decided to deliver the jabs at Forres Town Hall instead, starting on February 22, after a "review of programme venues".

The health board believes the larger venue, which will also operate between 10am and 6pm from Monday to Friday, will give "greater flexibility" in the delivery of the jabs.

An NHS spokesperson explained the switch and thanked Forres Mechanics for their support in providing use of their ground as a vaccine hub.

“We know this move will be disappointing for everyone at Forres Mechanics," the spokesperson said. "But it is certainly no reflection on the support we have received from the chairman and the board who have gone above and beyond to assist us.

“This is a mass vaccination programme aiming to vaccinate every adult in Grampian and designed to protect as many people in the north-east of Scotland as possible, as quickly as possible.

“We know that people are eager to get vaccinated and we would like to thank everyone for their patience as we work our way through the priority vaccination groups.”

Appointment letters are being sent out via the National Service Now system. Please do not contact your GP or the NHS for a vaccine; you will receive a letter when it is your turn.
