THE second man arrested for allegedly assaulting several passengers on a train as it neared Forres station has been released on bail.

Alexander Tait (55) gave no plea when he appeared on petition at Elgin Sheriff Court this afternoon.

He was freed until his next appearance at the same court, the date of which has not yet been decided.

Yesterday Michael Tait (23) was remanded in connection with the same allegations relating to the Inverness to Aberdeen train on Saturday evening.

Both men have been charged with nine counts of assault, breach of the peace and obstructing the police in the course of their duty.
