A FAMILY fun day featuring football-related activities is being held this weekend.

The event, which will also act as a fundraiser for Forres Mechanics, will be held at Mosset Park on Sunday, October 17 from noon to 3pm and is being pulled together by one of the directors, Sandy Aird, to bring together all of the club's teams and the wider community.

Sandy said: "It’s time to get back on track and bring the community together now that we are able to host events again. It’s going to be a fun afternoon with loads of activities planned.

"This event is about bringing the main team and the youth teams together, but also inviting younger members of the public along to see what we are all about."

As well as interactive games such as Beat the Goalie, Kick the Bucket and Crossbar Challenge, attendees will also be able to take a tour of the ground led by club chairman, Dave MacDonald.

The canteen will be open and there will also be a Ladies Afternoon Tea in the newly refurbished function room.

Sandy added: "The event is a real joint effort from the youth coaches and the team - we are expecting some of the more locally-based players to be here.

"We are also using the event as an opportunity to present the Player of the Year awards to each of the youth teams. Like many things, that has been on hold due to Covid."

Mechanics recently re-instated club hospitality in a newly refurbished suite.

"It’s great to see things getting back to normal," said Sandy. "We are delighted to have hospitality back at the club which, like many organisations, has taken a huge financial hit during the course of the pandemic.

"There are costs associated with running the club and developments we want to make such as installing new floodlights so this event will also help with that."

The event will also include a car boot sale at a cost of £10 per car. Those wishing to book a space should call Sandy on 07989213199 or email sandy@theretiredgolf.pro
