FORRES Academy head teacher Jan Sinclair has said the school's senior pupils should be "immensely proud" of their efforts after great exam results across the board.
After a year of uncertainty due to the coronavirus pandemic, there were no exams with results judged on teacher assessment.
In sixth year, more than half of pupils received at least one Advanced Higher, while in fifth year nine pupils received straight As at Higher level – the most since 2003.
Across fourth year, six pupils got seven As at National 5 level, with a further 11 getting six As at National 5. Impressively, five more got at least five As at National 5 and an A at Higher.
Head teacher Jan Sinclair said: "Following the last 18 months that society has experienced, the impact it has had on young people cannot be understated.
"For the senior phase pupils of the 2020-21 session, the last school year was one of huge uncertainty.
"The uncertainty of whether exams would go ahead, the second lockdown and an entire term of remote learning.
"An intensive and stressful term four of assessments – could any of us adults even begin to think how we would have coped with this going through our own qualification years?
"The pupils showed amazing resilience and determination through the most challenging of times.
"The senior pupils of Forres Academy should be immensely proud of all their achievements in their SQA results – whatever the grade.
"As head teacher I am proud of each and every one of them. I would also like to commend the staff at the school with the hard work and dedication they showed in supporting the pupils throughout this time."
