Highland fog sparks flight disruption misery in Inverness
Thick fog caused misery for airline passengers heading in and out of Inverness on Saturday - after it sparked delays, cancellations and diversions.
The Moray Firth area awoke to murky weather and foggy conditions at the start of the weekend.
And although the sun has since burnt it back in many parts, the haar has continued to linger in places.
And this led to lengthy delays for numerous flights.
At 3pm the 8.35am arrival from Luton was still showing as delayed on Inverness Airport’s online arrivals and departures board, as too were the 10.20am from Stornoway, the 11.33am from Glasgow - which is understood to have diverted to Aberdeen - and the 1.50pm from Gatwick.
Departures were also heavily affected with the 10.50am flight to Stornoway and the 12.30pm departure for Heathrow both cancelled.
The 9.10am to Luton was also showing as delayed.
Some flights were able to get away though. The 10.45am Manchester flight left 50 minutes late, while the arrivals from Manchester at 10.15am and Heathrow at 11.45am both landed at Inverness Airport as planned.
