A FORMER Forres Citizen of the Year has raised another £3100 for local causes.

A total of 168 players took part in the 18th Texas Scramble and raffle at Forres Golf Course organised by James “Flicker” Duncan BEM, in aid of Forres in Bloom, Forres Christmas Lights and Riding for the Disabled.

Flicker confirmed £1000 went to the course committee and £700 to each of the groups.

He said: “I love the work of the Forres in Bloom and Forres Christmas Lights Committee as they are all volunteers who enhance the town every year. Riding for the Disabled is also important to me – I’ve seen first-hand how the attending kids’ faces light up when they get on the horses and it cost a lot to run the charity.”

The Scramble prizes and raffle lots were donations from generous benefactors – a number of winners went home happy with bottles.

The event had to be cancelled last year, but Flicker has been humbled by the community’s generosity over the other 19 years.

He said: “Players come from all over to join the locals who come back every year. I’ll keep it going as long as I can!”
