A FATHER of two primary school children has called for their favourite slide to be fixed.

Mark Donald's girls Nicole (10) and Caitlyn (5) used to love playing on the zip slide at Mannachie Park, but it has been out of action for at least a year.

Mr Donald explained: "We first noticed last September – it's got a hole in the metal fittings that a metal pole should go through for the seat attachment to hang from.

"My girls hate it not working and all the kids in the area have missed it after school and on weekends, plus the last October holidays, Christmas holidays, Easter holidays, summer holidays... and they will again soon during the upcoming tattie holidays."

The communications worker from Castle Street is an avid model-maker.

He said: "I don't think it would be that hard to fix and I've been tempted myself a couple of times. It's a shame really – this type of thing would be fixed fast in other places."

A Moray Council spokeswoman confirmed the popular play equipment was "beyond economical repair and will be replaced when budget allows".

She added: "We'll be happy to work with any community group which could source funding in the meantime."

Mr Donald replied: "Looking at it, I find that hard to believe, but there you go. It would be interesting to know just what parts they think are needed and the time it would take someone to fix it."
