A FIRE crew was called out to an incident at Cluny Hill early this morning (Friday, July 8).

A member of the public was walking her dog near the dragon carving close to Nelson's Tower when she spotted a large burning log so reported it to the police on 101 as it was so close to the station on Victoria Road.

The police advised her to call the fire service.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said she called them at 6.08am.

He added: "Operations control immediately mobilised a fire appliance to the location and firefighters extinguished the fire.

"Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe."
