Drumduan School’s fundraising Christmas Market is on Sunday
A FESTIVE event at a local school will feature live music, a puppet show, woodland treasure trails, food, drink and handcrafted gifts.
Drumduan School’s Christmas Market, from 11am to 3pm on on Sunday, December 1 is being supported by local businesses including Naturally Useful, Earthling Apothecary and Weleda.
Drumduan spokesperson, Josephine Schwab, confirmed admission will be free and all funds raised will go back into the school.
She said: “Our doors are open and everyone is welcome to come have a merry time to celebrate the season!
“Shop for unique handmade gifts, decorations, and delicious treats. Enjoy live music and festive activities for children.”
There will be candle dipping, wreath making an artisan market, hot food stalls, a community café and bazaar.
A “gnome grotto and puppet show” will be connected in the kindergarten area.
Josephine said: “Gnome grottos are common among Steiner schools – these are tiny gnome figures arranged in a winter wonderland setting with crystals. They can be quite mesmerising for the little ones to look at and explore. Puppet shows will also be hosted by the kindergarten.”
Handmade gifts, decorations, and treats will be made by the school community.
“We will also have a pocket money stall” added Josephine, “where children can come and buy - or make - a small gift for their families and wrap them up while their parents are invited to wait outside the room to keep the surprise!”
Live music will include the school choir kicking-off the event.
A trail across the school grounds will allow children to find treasures on a map. Children who spot everything on the trail will be served a hot chocolate from a fire-heated cauldron.
Spiced apple juice will also be available.
There will be a second hand clothes and books bazaar, candle dipping and clay decoration-making.
The school café will serve hot soup and rolls and, weather permitting, there will also be an outdoor barbecue.
Drumduan School offers a Steiner education to its students, as well as groups and classes for one to 19-year-olds.
Josephine finished: “This fundraiser will help us to mitigate the huge impact that the UK Government’s introduction of VAT on school fees will have on our school community.
“We really rely on local connections and the support of our wonderful local community here in Moray.”
