FEAST your eyes upon a vast array of produce at a special event on this weekend.

'Forres Feast - A Celebration of Local Food' is on at Forres Town Hall on Saturday, October 5, offering local food prepared by local chefs, local entertainment, a cash bar of local beverages and a raffle of local prizes.

Spokeswoman Lisa Wolff confirmed Forres Feast is the culmination of the Forres Feast project which received a £5000 Connect Local Regional Food Fund (RFF) Award in May to improve collaboration between growers and promote their products.

She said: "The producers have been putting on the Forres Feast Pop-Up Shop, selling local, organically grown fruits, vegetables, salads and herbs on High Street every Saturday from 10am-2pm since June and will continue until October 26.

"The celebration event at the town hall comes at the height of the harvest. It will showcase inspiring ways to cook with the ingredients."

Admission to the event includes a three-course meal featuring fresh vegetables, fruit, herbs and salads alongside eggs, meat, fish, artisan bread, craft beer and single malt whisky.

There will be food-themed stories by storyteller Margot Henderson and Edinburgh chef Neil Forbes of Cafe St. Honoré, a documentary on the Forres Area Food Producers by film-maker Diana Mosterd, and live music.

Contributors to the feast will include Wester Lawrenceton Farm (Califer Hill), Marcassie (Rafford), Bruntlands Farm (Alves), Roots, Fruits & Leaves (Findhorn), Elgin Food Hub (Elgin), Newbold House (Forres), Roseisle Orchard (Roseisle), and other producers who meet the local, organically grown criteria.

Pam Rodway from Wester Lawrenceton Farm is project manager of Forres Feast, on behalf of Forres Area Food Producers. The group began meeting last October to explore the environmental benefits of organically produced food.

She said: "Forres Feast recognises that the same benign microclimate that has made Moray globally famous for malt whisky, shortbread, preserves, and seafood also has a tradition of market gardens and orchards that flourish on its fertile soils. We want to make it easier for households, chefs and tourists to discover and taste the seasonal succession of fresh, organically grown fruit, vegetables, salads and herbs here."

Buy tickets at ForresFeast.yapsody.com or at the Forres Feast Pop-Up Shop, 86 High Street from 10am-2pm.
