THE Fiona Elcock Vaccination Centre in Elgin is set to close for a week so the premises can undergo a deep clean.

The centre will close from June 7 until June 13, with all appointments that were booked in for that week to be rescheduled.

Due to the "phenomenal" response of Moray residents to the sped up vaccination rollout, there were very few appointments booked for this week – with a gap between first doses being given out ending and more second doses beginning.

This allowed the vaccination centre the chance move the small number of jabs that were booked in and undertake a clean.

A NHS Grampian spokesperson said: “Due to the absolutely phenomenal response from people across Moray to the accelerated vaccine programme, the week commencing June 7 had a very low number of appointments scheduled.

"Rather than try a run a much-reduced service, all appointments have been – or will be – rescheduled.

"This also allows our teams the opportunity to carry out a deep clean of the Fiona Elcock Vaccination Centre, ready to resume activity the following week.

“We are so grateful to the Moray community for their willingness to come and be vaccinated and look forward to welcoming them again for their all-important second dose.”
