ELGIN A96 CRASH: Man (40) dies after crash with ambulance on A96 east of Elgin
Police are appealing for information after a 40-year-old man died following a collision with an ambulance on the A96 in Elgin.
The fatal crash happened at around 3.30am today (February 22) east of Elgin and the trunk road remained closed to allow for investigations to be carried out for around 10 hours, reopening at around 1.20pm.
According to police, the ambulance was responding to an emergency call.
The pedestrian, a 40-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.
Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
Road Policing Sergeant Dave Cooper said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and we’ll do all we can to support them at this difficult time.
“We’ve been carrying out extensive enquiries in the area however I’m keen to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened or saw the ambulance or pedestrian before the collision.
“Motorists with dashcams who were travelling on the A96 between 3.00am and 3.30am today are asked to review their footage and bring anything of importance to our attention.”
