ELECTION 2021: Five candidates confirmed in Moray constituency

FIVE candidates will contest the Moray seat in the Scottish Parliamentary election on May 6.

Four candidates were already known prior to nominations closing today at 4pm.

Richard Lochhead will attempt to retain the seat for the SNP, up against Tim Eagle (Conservative), Jo Kirby (Labour) and Sheila Ritchie (Liberal Democrat).

It has now become clear that a fifth party will be standing in Moray, with UKIP putting forward Robert Stephenson to compete for the seat.

Details of the candidates for the Highlands and Islands list region will be made available in due course.

A total of 79 polling places will be in operation on Thursday, May 6, with the count taking place on Friday, May 7, at Moray Sports Centre in Elgin.

Voters have until Monday, April 19, to register to vote. Existing registered voters need not reapply.

The deadline for applications for postal votes and postal proxy votes to be received is 5pm on Tuesday, Apri 6. Voters are encouraged to get their applications in ahead of the deadline.
