Elderly being treated with contempt over bus service
An open letter to Forres councillors
I read with dismay in the Forres Gazette on August 3 about the withdrawal of the bus service from various parts of the town including the Forbeshill estate.
From the upper reaches of Forbeshill to the nearest bus stop, close to what was the Park Hotel, is just over half a mile which means a total walking dtstance of at least a mile.
To expect residents including the elderly to make this journey, during the winter and summer and probably carrying bags of shopping is beyond reason.
Where are our local council members at this time?
Apart from Irene Ogilvie their silence is disappointing, or have they like the rest of us been kept in the dark by Stagecoach Bluebird buses.
I cannot help but feel that offenders in the country are given star treatment, yet the law abiding citizens including the elderly are treated with utter contempt and a total disregard for their welfare.
This bus service must be allowed to continue.
