Coronavirus update: dates for school return, contact sports, concerts, football stadiums and more given by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon

SCOTLAND'S First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has provided a big update to coronavirus lockdown restrictions – with dates provided for a host of reopenings.
A number of the dates provided are indicative and will depend on coronavirus case numbers, but some dates, including the date for a school return, have been confirmed.
Notably, Mrs Sturgeon also increased the self-isolation period for anyone with symptoms of covid-19 from seven days to 10, and announced an end to shielding.
As expected, children will begin returning to school from August 11 in a phased manner. All pupils should be back in class by August 18.
Other confirmed dates are:
- August 1: A pause in shielding, meaning those 'shielding' can follow regular coronavirus guidelines.
- August 3: Routine eye care services can be provided within community optometry practices and in patients' homes.
- August 17: Urgent dental care involving aerosols may begin for NHS patients.
Subject to a review on August 20, the following may also take place from August 24.
- Live outdoor events, with restricted numbers and social distancing.
- Organised contact sport for all ages.
- The reopening of bingo halls, funfairs, arcades, casinos, pool halls and bowling alleys.
- Driving lessons.
There will then be another review on September 10. If everything remains on the correct path, the following will be allowed from September 14.
Note that the opening of gyms and swimming pools are being kept under review and are being considered for an early opening, if possible.
- Live indoor events, with distancing and restricted numbers.
- The reopening of theatres and concert venues (not including nightclubs).
- The reopening of gyms and swimming pools, with social distancing and enhanced hygiene measures.
- The reopening of indoor sports clubs.
- The reopening of stadia, with restricted numbers and social distancing.
There remains no date for the opening of non-essential offices or call centres, which will remain closed until at least September 11.
