Concerns over Moray FLOW-Park project spark public meeting set to take place in Forres in November
The date and venue for a public meeting focusing on a controversial development in the Moray Firth have been announced.
Conservative Highland MSP Tim Eagle announced he would seek to organise a meeting with Offshore Solutions Group (OSG), the firm behind the proposal for the Moray FLOW-Park project — which would see foundations for floating offshore wind turbines temporarily anchored off the Moray coast during construction or bad weather.
The facility is expected to be coming within three kilometres of Findhorn, Burghead and Nairn and just one kilometre from the RSPB reserve at Culbin Sands.
Today Mr Eagle confirmed that the meeting will be held at Forres Town Hall on November 11 at 6pm — with OSG’s chief executive Mr Rowley expected to attend.
This comes after increasing concern expressed by residents in Nairnshire and Moray about the potential impact this development — along an expected geophysical survey set to start on Saturday, October 18 — could have on the environment and local fishing industry.
"I've been talking to constituents who have concerns about the temporary storage of turbines in the Moray Flow Park,” he said.
"In order to get these issues addressed, I asked the OSG chief executive Will Rowley to a meeting I organised, which has now been confirmed for November 11 in Forres.
"OSG will make a presentation about the Flow Park plans, but I will make sure there is ample time for discussion and time to give residents the chance to have their voices heard."
