The P7s talked about plans for the garden. Contributors have included the Houldsworth family who granted the land, the Gibson family who lent a digger driver to clear it, and the army who built a Polycrub growing area.

Mrs Poppy Houldsworth cut a ribbon to officially open the Polycrub and the pupils presented her with a handmade card and flowers.

The P7s invited Major Monro to plant the first (apple) tree, then the children sang a song about the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Green Canopy.

Each child then planted a tree with a parent or adult. Fiona Gibson, of Edinvale Farm Wee Shed Shop, served refreshments and a Jubilee biscuit.

Pupils are creating a survey to find out what the wider community would like to see grown in their Polycrub.
