In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 677 positive cases which equates to 6.7 per cent of those tested overall.

The NHS Greater Glasgow area saw 178 cases, Lanarkshire 103 and Lothian 114 with the rest spread across Scotland.

NHS Grampian saw 65 cases and for the seven days to December 4 there were 210 cases noted in Aberdeenshire (80.4 per 100,000).

There were also positive signs with the clusters around Peterhead and Banchory showing a further decline in cases, while the small number of cases seen in Inverurie/Kintore has remained level.

A total of one further death was also recorded with Covid-19 as a contributing factor in the last 24 hours.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirmed today that: "Scotland received our first doses of the vaccine over the weekend and they have been delivered to centres across the country.

"This is extremely positive news, and should in time allow us to return to something close to normal life.

"But it will take time for us to work through the programme, while positive it does not reduce the need for caution, and we should be that little bit more careful about keeping to the rules.

"Tomorrow we will announce the review of the levels in each area, I won't pre-empt this but will say that current levels have undoubtedly helped to reduce levels across Scotland.

"The percentage of positive tests has come back down towards the 5 per cent level and that includes reductions in Level 4 areas.

"We have confirmed that these areas will move out of Level 4 and are considering what levels they will go into.

"We are also considering the hard indicators in other areas and the wider implications and we will continue to take a cautious approach.

It was also confirmed today that a decision on S1 pupils returning to attendance at Ellon Academy would be made later today.

The entire S1 group was advised to stay away from the school following a last minute message on Sunday evening following a positive case detection.
