PUPILS at a local school are grateful to the community for helping them put together a fundraising collection of recipes.

Former pupils, staff, friends and neighbours in Dunphail provided a wide range for The Logie 100 Cookbook, on sale now to raise funds for Logie Primary.

Head teacher Helen Douglas confirmed her 33 pupils rely on regular fundraising events by the parent council to ensure equity for all of the children and extras including outdoor kit, school trips and educational resources.

However, with Covid-19 meaning the cancellation of annual events including the school’s summer fête, a town hall coffee morning and marshmallow toasting at local fairs, funds are running low.

Ms Douglas said: “The cookbook brings together the school community, past and present, and celebrates the diversity found in the area. Some of the wonderful recipes have been enjoyed by customers of our monthly community café, A Cup of Joy. We are grateful for the support of our parent council in helping us to achieve our aim of ‘no child left behind’ – a belief in dignity for all. The funds will be used to subsidise learning experiences and resources as we nurture our change-makers of the future.”

The Logie 100 Cookbook highlights the close, historic ties between pupils, staff and the Dunphail community.

Chairman of the parent council Jon Hunter is “constantly amazed” by what Logie Primary and residents can do.

He said: “It’s a close-knit community that nurtures cooperation and integration. The children grow their ingredients and cook for the school’s café, so a recipe book was a natural next step.”

Local businesses supported the project including Moravian Digital Press and Logie Steading – who offered space on its website for sales and is stocking the book in its gallery. Finderne Development Trust helped with publicity.

Copies cost £8 and are available by calling Moira Dennis on 01309 611771 (local deliveries are available) or at www.logie.co.uk/the-logie-100. Orders are available by post or for collection at Logie Steading.
