A LOCAL venue has slots available for fundraising Saturday coffee mornings next year.

The dates for the Forres Area Community Trust-run Forres Town Hall events are January 15, February 26, March 5 and 12, April 23, June 11 and 25, July 2, 9, 16 and 30, August 6, 13 and 20, October 8 and 15, and November 5 and 12.

FACT project officer, Lorretta Oliphant, confirmed total hire for the main hall and kitchen is £96 for three hours.

She said: “We allow an hour free of charge - half an hour before the event and half an hour after - to set up and tidy up. Booking is a really simple way of fundraising for your community group or charity. We have an excellent, tried and tested formula and a large number of regular attendees ensuring that your coffee morning will be as successful as possible. It’s also a great way to promote and publicise your cause!”

Coffee morning organisers complained about the old booking system under Moray Council. FACT successfully community asset transferred the town hall from the local authority in 2019.

Lorretta said: “Bookers previously had to queue in all weathers at the Auchernack council offices on January 3 every year. Those days are gone as the town hall is now owned by the community. Our FACT online booking system shows availability and you can book there as well. Prices are adjusted for charities and community groups. Call 01309 674388 or email info@forresarea.com.
