A SAILING club event generated donations to two worthy local causes.

Royal Findhorn Yacht Club (RFYC) held a prize bingo competition which required a donation to welfare charity Moray Food Plus and a raffle entry fee which raised £270 towards the village's Hogmanay firework display.

RFYC spokeswoman Claire Davidson said: "The bingo night was hosted by Campbell Ross and attended by around 40 people.

"We wanted to support local groups as part of the fundraiser. The food bank was good choice with three items per entry. The Hogmanay fireworks at the pier are organised by Findhorn villagers with contributions from local groups."

RFYC is based in a 250-year old building overlooking Findhorn Bay. It offers supervised racing for dinghies and cruiser activities, as well as sailing and racing every weekend from April to October with additional mid-week events during the holiday season. Skills development coaching by experienced race coaches and sailors is also provided.

RFYC offers a social programme of events throughout the year, including Cadet Week and the Regatta Weekend.
