A LOCAL childminder’s youngsters have raised more than £250 for disadvantaged young people.

Diane’s Childminding, an independent home-based service on Castle Street run by qualified mother, Diane Bremner, organised a cake bake and sale in aid of BBC charity Children In Need.

She said: “My family along with four other families that use my childminding service, plus some of our friends, baked and sold them to other friends and colleagues on Children In Need Day, Friday, November 13.

“One of the families also made delicious fudge for donations which flew off the shelf!”

The total raised so far by BBC Children in Need in this year’s campaign is more than £40 million.

Diane’s own children got involved too.

Travis (11) said: “I was happy to help children in need.”

Emily (8) said: “I enjoyed eating some cakes!”

Kyle (5) said: “We all watched the appeal on the telly too.”

Diane’s Childminding attendee Liam Grant (4) added: “I liked put Pudsey Bear wafers on the cakes and helped my mummy stick the stickers on the bags of fudge.”

Diane was overwhelmed by the donations she collected, particularly as 2020 has been so tough for everyone.

She said: “I am so grateful to everyone who donated and I really appreciate the efforts made to raise the money. It’s a lovely feeling to contribute to children who need it the most.”
