THE NEW designated site for council services features alterations for community use.

Forres House Community Centre has replaced former care home and council office-space Auchernack as part of Moray Council budget cuts.

The altered centre and library now has: two interview rooms; three offices, improved security access for staff, a contact room for social work, a private spin room for the cycle group; and an upgraded room used by the staff.

A public car charge point at the back of the building (still to be finished)

Local councillor George Alexander confirmed a public car charge point at the back of the building is still to be finished.

He said: "Auchernack will be declared surplus and, if there is no strategic use for the building, will be sold.

"I understand that the transfer of staff to Forres House was initially driven by the need to reduce the council’s operating costs. It was also intended to maximise the use of Forres House which at one point was under consideration of potential closure."
